2021 - Vancouver - Sai Woo Neon

            In the spring of 1925,  Sai Woo Chop Suey, opened its doors in Vancouver’s Chinatown.

For many years until 1959, Sai Woo Chop Suey served clients hankering for Cantonese cuisine.

Todays' Sai Woo is a pan-Asian restaurant representing the modern incarnation of its historic predecessor.

Its current version resides in the same building at 158 East Pender Street.

In 2017, Sai Woo resurrected a piece of the old establishment’s history.

It installed a replica of the diner’s distinctive green and yellow neon rooster sign.

The original neon sign was believed to have been lost after the chop suey place closed in 1959.

In 2021 Chef Han, who is also head Chef and owner of Kosoo Korean Restaurants, assumed ownership of Sai Woo.
