2020 - Regent Cruise - Coxen Hole - Mayan Eden Eco Park - Butterfly Garden

            Next stop on our Roatan Island tour was to Mayan Eden Eco Park.

The park is located in Roatan’s dense rainforest canopy.

One attraction in the park is a butterfly garden.

Butterfly Garden is a 3,000 square feet enclosure  housing   20 species of butterflies many  native to Honduras. 

The Butterfly Garden offers a natural landscape for the butterflies.   At times the enclosure is filled with more than 200 butterflies flying amidst a collection of native trees, plants and flowers. 

The walkways within the enclosure  are lined with a variety of tropical fruit trees, orchids, ginger and hibiscus.

I think this is an Owl Butterfly.  Owls are known for their huge eyespots resembling owls' eyes.
