Lucas, Kingsley STT 613X - a photo on Flickriver

            Apologies for the 'first frame film flare' - an occupational hazard back in the old days ! 

I had a run down to the Potteries, and a ride round on a PMT 'Fareday' card, but that meant I had to walk up from Stoke-on-Trent rail station to Hanley bus station to buy one, as they were only available from the PMT travel office there, not from a bus driver. I think I may have gone to Hanley regardless ....

Local operator Ivor J Lucas had invested in his first foreign chassis and body at the end of 1983, with the arrival of this Volvo B10M / Van Hool Alizee from Trathens, which was not quite two years old. He followed it with an identical coach from the same source in early 1984, and the pair lasted until the 1987 season, when they were replaced by his first new coaches, two Jonckheere-bodied DAFs. This one spent the rest of its time (until 2004) with Walsh's Coaches, and then John Powell, both at Hellaby, near Rotherham. 

Also in the shot is a highly desirable classic, an FSO Polonez ! Not quite sure what it was doing there - maybe its owner left it there in the hope of having it towed away !
