Myvatn in Moonlight - a photo on Flickriver

            Moonlight over northern Iceland village of Mývatn during winter. We'd gone for the Northern Lights but only caught a faint glimmer on one night.
On this particular night I was outside the hotel, quite alone at around 2am, the temperature down at around -11° and it was absolutely magical. There wasn't even a hint of the Aurora but this scene, bathed in moonlight and with a few distant lights, brought a wonderful sense of peace and understanding of my small place on this world.
