Calgary Skyline & Intense Sunset - a photo on Flickriver

            Another from the early January 2012 archives, here you can see a portion of the downtown Calgary skyline against a backdrop of an incredibly intense winter sunset.  Despite the fact that it was the dead of winter, an atmospheric phenomenon known as a Chinook was blessing Calgary with unseasonably warm weather, shining sun, melting snow, and warm breezes.

Another wonderful side effect (especially for fans of photography!) are the incredible skies that accompany these Chinooks!

This whole series of photos was taken with my trusty and beloved old Nikon Coolxpix L120, the amazing little bridge camera that got me seriously into photography!

This was taken about 6 months before purchasing my current Canon EOS60D.
