Northern Hawk Owl (Surnia ulula)-3488

Beeing a "mid-day" person usually starting the day late and ending it early I've NEVER expected to ever meet a wild owl. On Thursday 03/11-2016 at 14:30 i did!
Travelling by bike at Hvambsida (Kongsberg, Norway), what first drew my attention was this weird call - something like this one: "http://www.xeno-canto.org/123018" (Sorrry - Flickr no longer allows working links so you'll have to copy and paste).
I stopped and looked in the direction the sound was coming from and saw a large bird in the top of a very high Spruce tree.

First it looked a bit like a goshawk, but then the bird turned its head and looked straight at me as I was not in doubt. The bird in front of me was a Northern Hawk Owl (Haukugle / Surnia ulula)!

Canon 70D, Canon EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 L USM IS.

I've found that the antishake sharpening filter in Photoshop CC 2017 works much better than the Lightroom sharpening - at least for handheld shots taken at 20-30m distance and a shutter down to 1/200, so I've completely turned off the sharpening in LR and used PS instead for all the photos in this set.
