Electricity takes over - a photo on Flickriver

            4O09 the 10:15 Trafford Park F.L.T to Southampton Maritime M.C.T is more often than not operated by diesel locomotive in the form of a Class 66 General Motors built JT42CWR locomotive or Class 70 General Electric JT37ACI Powerhaul locomotive of Freightliner UK working on its Intermodal services (FILM) which operate intermodal container trains across the country mainly down the West Coast and East Coast mainlines from port such as Felixstowe & Southampton to inland container terminals such as Leeds F.L.T (Freightliner Terminal) where containers are then distributed out by road and lorry the trains taking around 25-30 lorries off the road, saving long driving times, fuel and emissions. Here the normal diesel locomotives gives way to this Class 90 passenger and freight electric locomotive this one operated on freight trains with Freightliner on its intermodal services such as this one here running through the centre of Manchester here about to pass Manchester Oxford Rd station the Class 90 locomotive silently creeping down towards Piccadilly and onwards to Crewe and Ipswich before the locomotive will swap for a diesel locomotive. Here in Manchester City Centre the train passes down the up line heading on its way down south to Southampton.
