Where is the Snow?

            This image was taken on 29. December 2016 on Brünnelistock, one of the highest points of the Mythen-Region skiing area, named after the prominent peak in this image: Mt. Mythen. 

The sky shows the Milky Way in the region of the constellation Cygnus with its red nebulas, including the North America Nebula (NGC7000)

On ground, everything was ready to start the skiing season - except that there was no snow...

This is the 3rd year in a row that the ski resorts in the lower parts of the Alps were unable to open for the holiday season, due to lack of snow. Global warming seems to have reached us for sure.

The bright glow on the horizon is light pollution from the cities in the lower parts of Switzerland.

Therefore, although I think this image looks nice, it sadly shows three negative impacts of our civilization on nature: The structures built by the skiing industry, light pollution and, worst of all, climatic change.
