            The Art of Folding 2D into 3D - 
Legend has it that anyone folding a thousand paper cranes grants the maker one wish. I stop at nine hundred and ninety-nine because I need to find an answer from my hesitation. What would I wish for after making 1, 000 cranes? I want the last one to become a real, red-crowned crane shouldering my spirit. Let him take flight beyond my windows and dip over mountains to saunter freely on green rice fields many miles away. Better thoughts. Wouldn’t it be more desirable to work on new sheets that glow in the dark? Instead of birds with long beaks pointing skyward, my hands can make a hundred stars and they triple into a million. Lo and behold, they’ll turn my bedroom into a glimmering galaxy once I string them up on my ceiling! Preoccupied with subliminal head trips, my nimble fingers in anxious creativity stealthily stole an old envelope with stamps from the forest. Initially the stiff material pushed hard against me but my nimble fingers persisted with purpose. I tucked in the unruly femurs and pleat once, twice gently. Succeeding, I guided the individualistic jointed legs into obedience. With each careful crease, I faintly whisper, “Awake! Bloom! Come to life!” After twelve steps and forty-eight overlaps, a planate creature with the bristly brushes of Salvador Dali multiplying hastily in place rose into physical shape. For those still guessing, “Origami” is his name. 
 
The spider bent his rectangle arms in disapproval and shoot with piercing eyes. “Whoever you are; are you done? When you leaving?” 
 
I replied in bold, sultry tone, “Your arctic stares and cold shoulders don’t deter me at all. For the time being, I’m going to uncrinkle and fold you into a collapsible camp chair because I have foot fatigue. ” 
 
Unexpectedly, the last crane that would put together one million turns out to be a shaggy suede spider. Nevertheless anyone who reads this, you would be granted a wish: health, happiness… anything! :-)
