Contourenkerkje in Witmarsum op maandag 30 juni 2014

            Het kerkje in contouren is een herinnering aan kerkhervormer Menno Simons ( 1496 – 1561), die in Witmarsum geboren is. De open constructie van gekleurd staal op een bakstenen vloer - een 'replica' van het in 1879 gesloopte gebouw - symboliseert de veelsoortigheid van de mennonieten in alle windstreken. Hoezeer vervolgd in het verleden, en hoe verscheiden ook in het heden: zij hielden en houden eensgezind vast aan Menno's motto: "want niemena kan een ander fundament leggen dan er al ligt - Jezus Christus zelf" (1. Kor. 3:11).
