Macro with a sony RX100M3 - a photo on Flickriver

This is not a special capture - just a demo for a discussion thread.

Here is the tiny President Lincoln sat in the back of a Penny, that is tough to see with the naked eye.

Sony RX100M3 is a very talented & powerful pocket camera. So much so, that Hasselblad sells the RX100M2 with a wooden grip for twice the price. It is exactly the same camera, made by Sony.

However, RX100M3's macro photography is somewhat limited. If you really need to, you can always use the old lens reversing technique:
Just get hold of pretty much any old SLR small lens, I used an old Nikon 28mm, open the aperture to the widest you can on it.
Zoom the Sony to 70mm and hold the SLR lens's front element in front of the Sony lens (SLR lens is back to front), gently touching it. It’s best to have manual focus on the Sony to around the min. distance.
For good macro, close the Sony’s aperture a little to have a better DOF.
You can use the manual focus, but more like moving your hold back and forth for peak focus.

This is a great way to get macros if you're out and about with a film or a larger SLR and with your pocket camera, but no Macro lens.

Of course you'll crop the image as you like, since RX100's have plenty of pixels.
