St Mary the Virgin, South Porch - a photo on Flickriver

            St Mary's Church, Stoke D'Abernon.

Grade I listed. Church of outstanding importance. Late 7th century south wall and apse, 12th century nave with 13th century chancel. Norbury Chapel to north circa 1490. Restored in 1866 by Ford and Hesketh.
Flint and stone with Roman tiles to south wall, flint with stone dressings to remainder. The Church of St. Mary is one of the very few seignorial churches to have survived from Saxon origins and still display the succeeding developments. I had to look up the meaning of seignorial - Old French *seignorial, from seignor (“master, lord”)
