m a e l s t r o m | bodø, norway - a photo on Flickriver

The water you see passing under this tall bridge is the Saltstraumen. It's a small strait near the town of Bodø, Norway, and it boasts the worlds strongest maelstrom, or tidal current. The ideal time to be there is during a rising or falling tide, and although we were there mid-tide, you could still clearly see the water on each side of the inlet moving in different directions. Occasionally it would form little eddies and whirlpools. It's pretty darn cool, I must say.
