~ Lake Apopka East Shoreline ~ - a photo on Flickriver

            Lake Apopka shore line near the park and boat ramp. The second largest inland lake in Floria, it draws many thourist and fisherman during the course of the year. Long ago it was know as the Bass Fishing Capital of the USA until fertilizer runoff killed the lake and the fish. Through many years effort by the State of Florida, it has returned to be a decent fishery but nothing like it was in the 1960's and prior.. Next time you eat and orange, think of this lake as it was surrounded by orange groves and the fetilization of the oragens is what killed the lake.
