Bent skeletal warehouse remains stand in Hudson River at 63rd Street

            6mph winds from the south brought 62° weather to Manhattan today making for unseasonably awesome kite flying conditions. I tested the Alpine DC with a replacement spar made from Skyshark P 400 carbon tubing. It flew quite well, but could not lift a camera in these lighter winds. I trained a Gomberg DC8 to the line about 150' below the first kite and together they had just enough lift for my G9.

Speaking of the G9 I also tested the new dial mode CHDK commands. I'm now able to do many things with the G9 via remote control including: zoom, record video, and toggle intervalometer on and off. In previous attempts to trigger unique actions via G9's USB port, I tried measuring pulse lengths, but the measurements were inconsistent. So instead of measuring lengths, my CHDK script counts pulses. DuneCam sends the pulses reliably with its own ground controller scripts. Today's results were positive. Video, zoom, and intrervalometer stills are all switchable while the camera is in the sky.
