A matter of trust

When I met him, Teo had been abandoned twice - the first time on a highway near Turin, the second by the family who first adopted him and then, just a week later, decided to bring him back to the animal shelter, saying "This dog is aggressive, we don't want him anymore". So he entered the cage again; a good candidate to become one of those invisible dogs who spend their whole life there - because they are not so young, so good-looking, so funny, or just lucky enough to find a home.
I wouldn't have noticed him if he was alone: it's sad, but true. But for once in his life Teo's good star had decided to shine in the very right moment, and he was sharing the cage with Domitilla, a lovely young sheperd dog I had fallen in love with at first sight while visiting the shelter's website.
My old Newfie Luna (www.flickr.com/photos/roseinthedark/1687290623/in/set-721...) had just passed away and I was looking for two dogs, And two dogs were there waiting for a family. So, the choice was already made.
Teo is not an easy dog. We don't know his real age - he could be 5, or 7, or who knows. He's scared by sticks, brooms, cardboard tubes - everything that probably was used to beat him when he was a puppy. And the thing that fears him more are gun-shots (maybe he was used as a bait in wild boar hunting: small, lively dogs are often used for this barbaric practice). And sometimes he growls, and tries to attack walkers, runners, cyclists and whatever. But. He's a little brave boy, and the best tennis ball taker ever. *He's my dog*. He's trying his best to trust humans again, and I just can't tell how hard it could be - because sometimes we have to forget the lessons we have learned, which maybe saved us once, and give a second chance to someone: to love and to be loved.
So: meet Teo. And obviously, HFF to everyone.
