an irreversable decline - a photo on Flickriver

"In the early 20th century railroads lured settlers into North
Dakota with promised homesteads. Towns were planted
everywhere. Houses rose from the sweep of the plains, many,
like this one,with a story that no one could trace. People believed that rain
would follow the plow. But they were wrong."

Hope nobody cares that I borrowed an excerpt from the 2008 issue of National Geographic magazine. They published an article tittled, "The Emptied Prairie" about North Dakota. This house was one that Eugene Richards photographed for the article.
Of course when James and I were there it was breezy...always breezy. I'll eventually will post one with just the house. Thanks to j-piepkorn65 for helping out just in time. If it wasn't for him we wouldn't have got to see this place!
