Self Portrait or Selfie if you'd like. And here's a question for you. Are Selfies a form of accessible portrait art, or are they akin to a disease in the body of art and therefore should be eradicated for the greater good ?

            ............... Update, 30/11/14. In chit chat about this image an interesting question has arisen that i'd like to invite people to share where constructive criticism , thoughts and ponderings on. Are selfies a valid form of artistic expression as it could be a very accessible way for people to start to get an interest in the arts ( almost a baby step in ) and maybe some will find theres an artist in the thats been dying to get out. Or it could be a rotten form of cancer in the body of art, that need to be monitored and destroyed if push came to shove so as not to further water down the essence elements and importance of portrait art.

For me what qualified this snap ( that screams selfie because that what i shot it for ) was the tonal effects. I am trying out B&W effects on non important images as i want to re-edit my flooding shots so i'm having a play about. It took me a heap of time and commitment to get those tones as they are so to me it upgraded the photo to the lower realms of portrait art.

What does anyone else think on this?  Have the weeks upon weeks of fevers and flares done me in so so i have lost sight of good taste or is there a place for selfies in the world of art or there own or if just a little something else added and therefore potentially changing the image into self portraiture ( which is where i am with this ). ..................

My current flare is proving sticky to shift so its time to call the Dr's in. A flare normally means i will have to go on steroids, which will bloat me out to disfiguring proportions and turn my face into a moon shape so i don't even recognize my appearance in a mirror anymore.

This is bad for my self confidence as it would be for anyone, so i always like to pop up a photo of a steroid almost free me before hand. Its helps to me to remember i do and can get my appearance back with some careful diet planning and avoidance of anything thats salty, and it reminds me what i really look like as the moon face and water gain turns me into one big human water bag. 

I've been playing with some black and white effects as of late so its good to put up an phpto of that play-about for the record and i hope you enjoy my slight different take on B&W. I want to re-edit the whole river flooding set as its not giving off the right energy for the drama of the situation. I wanted to do an edit that was close to the colours of the day and re-edit them in black and white to show the emotion. My last try didn't feel right as it was too safe for one of the biggest floods in the UK for almost 100 years, so i've been playing about with contracting effects and pushing the extremes more, i think i am almost there to re-edit the shot and inject the right energy into the edit :)
