Dental Hospital Founder Honoured

Tributes were paid in Brisbane this afternoon to one of the stalwarts of the dental profession in Queensland, Mr. W. R. Parker, the originator of the State's first dental hopsital.

The president of the Australian branch of the University of Toronto Alumni Association (Dr. Fitz Vincent) presented a portrait of the late Mr. Parker to the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Queensland University (Professor S. F. Lumb).

The presentation was made in the lecture room at the dental college in Turbot Street and Professor Lumb ordered that the portrait be hung in the library.

Dr. Fitz Vincent told students at the presentation that the portrait would be a tangible tribute to the memory of a man who had done much for dentistry in Queensland.

Mr. Parker had given a life service for the betterment of the profession and the students were now reaping the benefits of his work.

In 1912 Mr. Parker opened the first dental hospital in Brisbane and the present £170,000 dental hospital in Turbot Street was now second to none in the Southern Hemisphere.
