Hadron Collision

            These are the last four for my 2023 Creative 100x project, and they are a more mixed bunch. Here are some notes:

#97 Village Quake. This was taken in March while watching an RPS talk on creative photography. I was just messing around with a camera and what I could see from where I was watching (the study/library/filing room/junk room/wine store). It's a three-capture in-camera multiple-exposure of the house that is directly opposite, twisting the camera between shots. The white-painted window surrounds make interesting oblongs and the effect was quite intriguing. The house is quite old though not one of the richer ones in the village. Most of those are listed (protected from change under planning laws) but this one isn’t except, curiously, for the roof over the front door, which suggests to me that it’s of some architectural interest and value.

#98 It Takes Two To Tangle. This one was also taken in March, while on a walk in a local field. It’s of a telegraph pole - I often wonder why we call them that as telegraphs died out almost a century ago; it’s really a three-phase electricity distribution pole (a mouthful that probably explains why we don’t use the term). A tip here: if you are going to invert the camera for one of the shots do that one first - it’s much easier lining a multiple exposure up with the camera the right way up!

#99 Bling. This is the lovely Kate who was bravely modelling for a group of local photographers that I belong to way back in January last year. I wasn’t really doing much portrait photography as I was surrounded by a lot of folk who were very good at it, but I was playing with ICM and multiple exposures just to see what worked. Not much was the conclusion. The trouble with mixing ICMs and MExs with portraits is that you mess up people's faces and we are very sensitive to that. Also, I wanted to respect the models and not produce something that was ghastly! This is a three-ICM in-camera multiple exposure using very smal wiggle movements…

#100 Hadron Collision. This is a three ICM in-camera multiple exposure, probably of light through trees taken in July. One of the ICMs was a zoom one. This technique is very hit-and-miss (this was one of perhaps twenty or thirty captures), but the results can be interesting. It was almost monochrome, but I processed it in Silver Efex anyway. Hadrons are sub-atomic particles like protons and neutrons and are what the Large Hadron Collider is about though I don’t think the Higgs Boson is a hadron… So there you go.
