Turbulent Waters

            Sunwapta means 'turbulent water' in the native language of the Stoney First Nations.  The falls tumbles 61 ft (9 m) on it's way to the Athabasca river.

The name 'Sunwapta' may seem familiar to fans of the Athabasca Glacier.   That's the name of the lake at the Toe of the Athabasca Glacier, which is considered as a source for the river (together with the Columbia Icefield).

Some local info: Spokane area registered the worst air quality in America today, and probably will again today.  A local air monitor near my home in NW Spokane pegged the max AQI value of 500.   Three wildfires started nearby resulting at the moment with 185 homes in Medical Lake and 30 homes in Elk WA lost.  And the fires continue.  They closed the I-90 freeway both directions creating major detours as the ML fire had jumped across it and was burning along it.  I stay indoors so I'm fine and not in danger.  When I take my shadow Zeus out to do his business I mask up. For his protection I bring him in as soon as he's done.
