            Helios 44M-7 wide-open. High Street, Markyate, Hertfordshire. The bright red blob on the right is one of the big plastic poppies that have been tied to lamp posts etc. Our village is quite serious when it comes to remembering the war dead. Remembering, or to be more precise, memory, is one of the few remaining elements holding British identity together. The other remaining element is the continuity of royalty. We would hope that there were other elements pointing towards the future. Where is Britain, England in particular, wanting to go? The red colour does not tell us.
