Moonspinner - an acoustic evening with John Hackett (flute, keyboards, guitar and vocals), Howard Sinclair (guitar, keyboards and vocals) and Matt Lumb (piano).

Fantastic gig in a great venue (my local) playing a mix of John Hackett / Steve Hackett / Howard Sinclair tunes, with the odd cover including one of my favourite songs - King Crimson's 'I Talk to the Wind' **, a song from a gig he went to with his brother Steve that inspired him to take up the flute as an instrument.

The crowd size was abysmal, which was a shame, but it was in the middle of South Yorkshire Monsoon Season. I got soaked through just walking (well, running) from my house. It’s a lovely little venue upstairs from the main pub, but with no heating, I had to choose between sitting in a dry tee-shirt, or a soaking jacket. I chose the wet jacket. After 30 years going there with no heating, maybe it’s time to invest in a wee heater.

** I wish I could play you the original version of King Crimson's 'I Talk to the Wind', but apparently it keeps disappearing from Youtube. The original was sung by founding member Greg Lake. This one is performed by Johns brother Steve, with ex King Crimson members John Wetton (bass and vocals) and Ian McDonald (flute). The late John Wetton was one of my all time favourite musicians, especially with King Crimson and Asia, and the first rock star I had the privilege of chatting to.
