2401_0619 Back Alley, Val Marie - a photo on Flickriver

            Stepping away from the usual nature & wildlife for a few days; other things interest me, too. Like the look of these small prairie communities. I wasn't born here, but I do have a certain comfort zone in these places, no doubt due to my upbringing in rural Quebec. 

Truth is, I like the look of these somewhat rundown little prairie towns and villages, half-frozen in mid-winter (sometimes entirely frozen). It's a different style of building, a western look, but not unfamiliar. This view is from the back alley closest to my house - between a street and the village campground. A hoarfrost day in January. I did a brief walkabout until my hands got too cold and I wasn't having fun anymore; this is the first of three shots from that adventure.
