The Owl House, South Eastern Montana

            This summer I was cruising down gravel back roads looking for ghost towns. A thunderstorm was building and the wind shifted. The air was hot but the wind turned cool. I had a nice dust cloud billowing out behind my little car and I was flying down the backroads. I suddenly slammed on my breaks when this place caught my eye. At first I saw the white weathered boards and the beautiful dormers with the blue sky and clouds building behind it. A lovely lonely house in the middle of nowhere Montana. But, the house drew me in and the closer I looked the more I saw---something mysterious and beautiful and magical. Two things actually. Two beautiful giant owls, one in each dormer window. They sat completely still, their feathers ruffled lightly as the wind from the storm blew through the battered frame of the house. I don't know anything about reincarnation but somehow I just wanted to believe that these owls represented the souls of the old man and old woman who undoubtedly built this beautiful home and farmed the land. I don't know whether it was the coming thunderstorm or the thought that made me shiver. I looked into the two owls eyes and I knew I was seeing something every photographer wishes for--a great photo op and a fantastic experience. My photos didn't even come close to what it really felt like to be there and to see it all. I wished so much for a better camera and for better ability. But you have to work with what you have so I did. And these photos were the result. 
On my photos yesterday I wrote that "Sometimes we find the best places when we don't exactly know where we are going." and this place represents that idea perfectly. I had no idea this house was where I would be driving. I was on my way to other places and decided to take a back road and I was lucky enough to get to see this place. I hope every one of my flickr friends gets to happen upon a scene similar to this in their lifetime, because it really was a wonderful sight to behold and a great feeling.
Honestly, there are no words I can say to properly convey it so I'll end with this quote which perfectly describes the experience:
