Ritual de los hombres voladores - a photo on Flickriver

             El ritual de los voladores  se inició como una ceremonia en la época prehispánica que tenía que ver con un rito orientado a pedir lluvia debido a un periodo largo de sequía.
Un grupo de cinco hombres se suben a un poste de unos 30 metros de alto, cuatro de ellos se atan una cuerda a la cintura y se lanzan de cabeza al vacío con los brazos abiertos, girando alrededor del poste. Mientras tanto, el quinto miembro permanece en la parte superior del poste y toca música indígena con instrumentos de madera hechos a mano. 
El 30 de septiembre de 2009 la ceremonia ritual de los voladores fue declarada Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad.

The ritual of flying began as a ceremony in ancient times to ask for rain during a long period of drought rite.
A group of five men climb a pole about 30 meters high , four of them rope tied around his waist and throw themselves headlong into empty with open arms , rotating around the pole . Meanwhile, the fifth member remains in the top of the post and play indigenous music with wooden instruments crafted .
On 30 September 2009 the ritual ceremony of flying was declared  Cultural World Heritage.
