Amsterdam, Brouwersgracht - Herengracht, Rubber nek boten

            Hanging out at home, making the most of nice photography weather - actually a bit too hot for me !

Amsterdam has spent many years digging metro tunnels under the city which has presented many, many challenges not the least of which is how do you "dig' through what amounts to very wet sand. In the course of making those expensive tunnels the engineers have gained much experience and now want to put it to use to solve one of the city's other problems, cars on the streets.

There is a proposal to dam and drain some of the canals, dig them out and create roads then cap the tunnels and re-fill the canals above, removing cars from the streets above and freeing them for people and bikes.

I think it is a terrific idea and worth testing out !
