            I'd been out for a long walk, it was raining, I was somewhat soaked, and my glasses were wet and the view was distorted. I took my iPhone out of my pocket to shoot this and nearly dropped it. I thought to myself that the image, while certainly my abstract style, was not worth breaking my phone. I grabbed a few shots of this gate, then started to walk to my left with my phone still in my right hand. I didn't realize there was a curb right there at my feet. I tripped and fell. Hit hard on my knees and left palm/wrist. A nanosecond later I realized my right hand with iPhone was slashing through the air toward the concrete sidewalk. I turned my wrist at the last moment so the phone didn't hit, but the back of my hand did. Ouch! Dang! Surveyed the overall damage. Nothing broken. Just some blood running out of the back of my right hand. Got up and checked. Just a 3/4" gash. Had a bandana handy to press on it. Knees were sore and already getting stiff. It was about a mile to home. Began walking. Knees loosened up after about 10 minutes. (That I was able to "walk it off" was significant in my mind.) Rain kept up until I got to my front door, then the weather cleared and there was a nice sunset.
