We are building a forest outside our door so nobody can find us

            Spot the butterfly, as opposed to Spot the dog. I think it's a Red Admiral. I could be wrong, But then the Red Admiral probably doesn't know what we deign to call it in our rush to give everything a name (but I would never presume to know whether or not butterflies speak Latin to each other). The ledge, in the foreground, is part of our smaller front balcony. It's amazing what wildlife a few tomato plants can attract. I have left them, unprotected in the front, thinking the birds might eat them, but so far no takers. The much larger back-balcony is netted off, supporting our other forest of tomato plants and assorted edibles. Our Aphid collection seems very healthy, bless 'em. My storm-trooper ladybugs seem to have wandered off, thankfully.

Him indoors has taken over the strawberries, saving them from my over-enthusiastic embrace, and they seem to be recovering.

"Red in tooth and claw", that Tennyson chap wasn't joking, was he? Clever chappie, that he was, to be sure!

With all this front and back going on, I can't help but think  of 'front bottom, back bottom', as we used to say in London, way back in the last century. 

But that's another story.
