Flickriver

Bremen town hall

            The historic Bremen town hall was built between 1405 and 1408. It is the only European town hall of the late Middle Ages that was never destroyed. It has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site of humanity, because it (together with the Roland of Bremen statue that stands in front of the town hall) stands as an exceptional testament to civic autonomy and sovereignty.

Das historische Bremer Rathaus wurde in den Jahren 1405 bis 1408 erbaut. Es ist das einzige europäische Rathaus des Spätmittelalters, das nie zerstört wurde. Es wurde als UNESCO Welterbe der Menschheit anerkannt, weil es (zusammen mit der Roland von Bremen Statue, die vor dem Gebäude steht) als außergewöhnliches Zeugnis für bürgerliche Autonomie und Souveränität steht.
