21st march ...Spring has arrived! Yesterday, indeed!

            Può essere il 19, il 20 o il 21 marzo e quest’anno, per la settima volta consecutiva sarà il 20 marzo. E non è un errore. L’ equinozio di primavera, infatti, contrariamente da quello che abbiamo imparato da bambini e da quanto stabilito inizialmente dal Concilio di Nicea nel 325 d.C . e poi confermato nel 1582 da Papa Gregorio XIII, non cade necessariamente il 21 marzo.
In realtà l’ equinozio di primavera (astronomica) è ogni anno leggermente in anticipo rispetto al precedente, a causa di un fenomeno chiamato precessione dell’asse terrestre o precessione degli equinozi e provocato dalla forma non perfettamente sferica della Terra e delle forze esercitate sul pianeta dal Sole e dalla Luna. Tuttavia, sempre grazie al  calendario gregoriano e all’introduzione deglianni bisestili (e delle loro eccezioni) l’equinozio cade sempre nello stesso periodo  anche se non esattamente il 21Marzo, giorno scelto come ufficiale da Gregorio per fare in modo che Pasqua arrivi sempre “ la prima domenica che segue il plenilunio successivo all’equinozio di primavera”, come stabilito a Nicea.

Dall’inizio del nuovo millennio l’equinozio di primavera è stato il 21 marzo in due occasioni, nel 2003 e nel 2007, e tornerà a esserlo solo nel 2102. Nel 2044 e nel 2496, cadrà invece il 19 marzo.

It can be 19 , 20 or March 21 and this year, for the seventh consecutive time will be on March 20. It is not an error . Winter equinox , in fact , contrary to what we learned as children and as first established by the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD , and then confirmed in 1582 by Pope Gregory XIII, not necessarily falls on March 21.
To begin with , the term equinox , you should refer not to one day, but in an instant. The one where the Sun crosses , passing from the southern hemisphere to the northern hemisphere in March and vice versa in September, during the ' autumn equinox , the ' celestial horizon and touches the so-called vernal point : that the ' intersection between the ' ecliptic and the ' celestial equator . This moment in 2014 falls in Italy at 17:57 on March 20 .
In reality the ' spring equinox ( astronomical ) is slightly each year in advance of the previous year, due to a phenomenon called precession of Earth's axis or precession of the equinoxes and caused by not perfectly spherical shape of the Earth and of the forces exerted on the planet the Sun and the Moon. However , again thanks to the introduction of the Gregorian calendar and leap deglianni ( and their exceptions) the equinox always falls in the same period although not exactly the 21Marzo , the day chosen as official by Gregory to make Easter always arrives " the first Sunday following the first full moon after the vernal equinox " , as defined at Nicea .

Since the beginning of the new millennium, the spring equinox was March 21 on two occasions , in 2003 and 2007, and will return to be only in 2102 . In 2044 and in 2496 will fall instead on March 19.
