            Overall this public artwork depicts a life-size bronze lion and a matching lamb at each end of a steel see-saw balanced on a steel wedge.  Despite the obvious diffence in size and weight of the animals, the platform is entirely level: they are 'equal before the law'.

It stands at the south-eastern corner of Toronto Courthouse (formally the 'Superior Court of Justice (Criminal)'), between University Avenue and the western side of Nathan Phillips Square, home of Toronto City Hall. 
Designed by Ronald A. Dick and built in 1967 using local Queenston limestone, the vaned courthouse is a northward continuation of the Osgoode Hall complex. First built 1829-32, this accommodates the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Divisional Court of the Superior Court of Justice, the offices and Great Library of the Law Society of Ontario, and Osgoode Hall Law School, once the province's sole recognised law school.
