Port Isabel - a photo on Flickriver

Port Isabel

            This is the Port Isabel Lighthouse, from my trip down to the southern tip of Texas, a couple days ago. This one was a Photoshop nightmare! It's such a shame when you see these beautiful old lighthouses, which 150 years ago were sitting out there all alone on the end of a penninsula, surrounded by sand dunes and dune grass. After a hundred years of 'progress', they are now surrounded by telephone poles, electric wires, fences, strip malls, and parked cars. This was taken from across a very busy street. Two lanes in each direction. After about ten minutes of waiting to snap a photo that had no cars driving by in either direction, I finally managed to get my shot. I managed to find the one perfect spot, where most of the telephone poles were directly behind the trees, and lighthouse. Then I photoshopped out the wires, and we ended up with this masterpiece! Congrats.
