Eileen Donan Castle - a photo on Flickriver

            Eilean Donan - The Castles of Scotland are well photographed, not least of them Eilean Donan. Making my way to the Isle of Skye with the family, we drove right past the Castle. The weather had clouded over a couple of hours before, making the sky quite dreary. However, as we passed the castle and turn the corner, the clouds started to break up and the sun break through! I swung the car back round, turfed the kids out of the car and grabbed my camera from the back seat hoping to grab my own take on this iconic location.

This was taken hand held (no time to set up a tripod) and I didn't have too much time to fuss over composition with the rest of the family waiting! I under exposed the image slightly to preserve the detail in the sky, hoping to bring through the mood and drama of the breaking clouds and brought back the detail in lightroom. I really wasn't sure what to expect from this image when I got it home due to the rushed nature of capturing it, but it turned out exactly as I had hoped it would!
