HSL-Zuid (Netherlands) - a photo on Flickriver

            HSL-Zuid (LGV Sud / High Speed Line South) 
The one and only highspeed line in the Netherlands is after years of construction not yet open due to problems with the traffic security systems. This secutiry system is built by Siemens in Germany, I mention this just for the record. 
This picture of a Bombardier Traxx engine is made during an excursion for the future crew of Thalys and Intercity trains. This engine was carring 3 coaches of the Benelux trains for the occasion. To walk between the tracks of a high speed line is a very extraordinary occasion. We were testing evacuations and what to do in case of a fire and how to manage monster crowds in such situations. Picture is taken somewhere near the village Rijpwetering where the line runs next to the A4 highway. 
The line is sceduled to be in operation in December 2009 for both Thalys (Amstrerdam-Paris) and Fyra (Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Breda/Brussels).
