Le triomphe de la Doctrine Chrétienne : Saint Thomas d'Aquin. Le couvent de Santa Maria Novella était un monastère dominicain, comme San Marco. L'influence des enseignements théologiques de Saint Thomas d'Aquin y était prédominante.

The triumph of Christian Doctrine: Saint Thomas Aquinas. The convent of Santa Maria Novella was a Dominican monastery, like San Marco. The influence of the theological teachings of St. Thomas Aquinas there was predominant.

Le Triomphe de la Doctrine chrétienne ou la Glorification de Saint Thomas d'Aquin. 1365-1367. Au centre Saint Thomas d'Aquin tient le Livre de la Sagesse. A ses pieds trois philosophes vaincus par la Sagesse de Thomas d'Aquin : Nestor (Nestorianisme), Averroes (Islam) et Arius (Arianisme).
Au-dessus du trône, des anges symbolisent les vertus : de gauche à droite,les figures ailées des trois Vertus théologales: la Foi, la Charité, l'Espérance et au dessous, de gauche à droite, les quatre Vertus cardinales: la Tempérance, la Prudence, la Justice et le Courage.
À la hauteur du trône, de gauche à droite, sont assis dix personnages du Vieux et du Nouveau Testament: Job avec un livre, David roi et Psalmiste avec sa cithare, saint Paul, avec l'épée, les quatre Évangélistes saint Marc, saint Matthieu, saint Jean et saint Luc, Moïse avec les tables de la Loi, Isaïe avec le livre de ses prophéties et Salomon (le seul sans auréole) avec le Livre des Proverbes.

De gauche à droite:
L'allégorie du Droit civil et en dessous l'empereur byzantin Justinien.
Inspirateur du Corpus Iuris Civilis, Une codification du droit romain.
Le Droit Canonique avec une maquette d'Église et le Pape Clément V avec la tiare.
LaPhilosophie qui montre la terre de la main droite, en dessous Aristote.
Les Saintes Écritures,figurées par une femme, qui tient une règle de la main gauche. En dessous Saint Jérôme.
La Théologie qui montre le ciel. En dessous Saint Jean Damascène.
La Contemplation, les oreillescouvertes pour ne pas écouter le bruit du monde et mieux se concentrer. La Prédication. La prédication tient un arc et une flèche, qui symbolisent le message à envoyer.
En dessous Saint Denys l'Aréopagite et Saint Augustin.
Cela significe que le dominicain doit pratiquer deux activités essentielles : la contemplation et la prédication.

Les Arts Libéraux:
L'Arithmétique tient la table de Pythagore. En dessous Pythagore.
La Géométrie avec une équerre et Euclide.
L' Astronomie avec un astrolabe et Ptolémée
La Musique qui joue de l'orgue et Toubal-Cain, qui était un des premiers forgerons.
La Dialectique, qui tient un scorpion, symbole du syllogisme, et Pietro Ispano, grande maitre de la logique au Moyen Age.
La Rhétorique avec Cicéron vêtu de la toge rouge romaine.
La Grammaire qui enseigne à des enfants et la représentation de Priscien ou Aelius Donatus.

The Triumph of Christian Doctrine or the Glorification of Saint Thomas Aquinas. 1365-1367. In the center St. Thomas Aquinas holds the Book of Wisdom. At his feet three philosophers defeated by the Wisdom of Thomas Aquinas: Nestor (Nestorianism), Averroes (Islam) and Arius (Arianism).
Above the throne, angels symbolizing the virtues: from left to right, winged figures of the three theological virtues: Faith, Charity, Hope.
Below, from left to right, the four Cardinal Virtues: Temperance, Prudence, Justice and Courage.
On each side of the throne, from left to right, are sitting ten characters of the Old and New Testament: Job with a book, and King David the Psalmist with his lyre, St. Paul with the sword, the four Evangelists St. Mark, St. Matthew , St. John and
Luke, Moses with the tablets of the Law,
Isaiah with the book of his prophecies, and Solomon (the only one without aura) with the Book of Proverbs.

The allegory of the Civil Law and below the Byzantine emperor Justinian in whose reign was written the Corpus Iuris Civilis A codification of Roman law.
Canon Law with a mock Church and Pope Clement V with the tiara.
Philosophy showing earth with his right hand, below Aristotle.
Scripture, figured by a woman who holds a rule of the left hand. Below Saint Jerome.
Theology, which shows the sky. Below Saint John Damascene.
Contemplation, ears covered, not to listen to the sound of the world and concentrate better.
Preaching. Preaching holds a bow and arrow, symbolizing the message to send.
Below Saint Dionysius and St. Augustine.
This significe that the Dominican must practice two activities: contemplation necessarily complemented by preaching.

The Liberal Arts:
Arithmetic holds the Pythagorean table. Below Pythagoras.
Geometry with square and Euclid.
The Astronomy with an astrolabe and Ptolemy
Music that plays the organ and Tubal-Cain, who was one of the first blacksmiths.
Dialectic, which holds a scorpion, symbol of the syllogism, and Pietro Ispano, large master logic in the Middle Ages.
Rhetoric Cicero dressed in Roman togas red.
Grammar that teaches children and representation of Priscianus or Aelius Donatus.
