moorish idol - a photo on Flickriver

moorish idol

            Moorish idols are easy to recognise - but not that easy to photograph - as they are quite shy and always seem in a hurry.  This one is probably an adult as it was alone - but not too old as it's top fin is long ( it seems they get shorter with age). 

The first decent sideways pose from a moorish idol ( usually they twist or skip out of frame) - and the lighting is distracting, the background dire and the photo contains hundreds of sand spots.

Some half a dozen attempts at pixel painting and several hours resulted in the above.
