Class 50 pioneer, D400 (50050) 'Fearless' tucked up warm at Yeovil Railway Centre

            'Fearless' is undergoing a lengthy restoration by members of the D400 Fund, based at Yeovil Junction station. Seen here in May 2014, the fuel level indicator column had recently been replaced through some excellent logistical coordination with fellow volunteers at the Severn Valley Railway, the heat exchanger was half way through tests to determine the source of a leak, some of the engine room doors had been removed for repainting and the last of four new cab sides had been welded into place and given a protective coat of gloss. The day after this photo was taken, 'Fearless' was moved back outside to participate in the YRC 20th Anniversary gala as a static exhibit the following weekend. Although the restoration is slow work, the love and dedication of the volunteers is clear to see.
