Lough - a photo on Flickriver

            After my morning woodland wander I travelled over to a walk I’d planned to do with my son while he was visiting a few weeks ago. I hoped to catch the heather in all its glory with a nice sunset on a round taking in a Northumberland lough, but unfortunately the bad back got in the way of that plan. In the end I’m glad I didn’t and suffered the path alone last week, as the paths were thigh deep in heather and bracken and hard to find, defined by the odd marker post sticking out of the heather. After many a stumble face down in the heather and stop to retie my boot laces I eventually made it to the lough.This photo is taken at Darden lough before the trek over its namesake pike and back to the car, a 4 mile walk I expected to do in under 2 hours taking over 3.
