Klippschliefer - Rock hyrax - a photo on Flickriver

            Der Klippschliefer ist ein mittelgroßes Landsäugetier, das in Afrika und im Nahen Osten heimisch ist. Der Klippschliefer befindet sich in Höhen von bis zu 4.200 Metern in Lebensräumen mit Felsspalten, die es ihm ermöglichen, Raubtieren zu entkommen.

The rock hyrax is a medium-sized terrestrial mammal native to Africa and the Middle East. The rock hyrax is found at elevations up to 4,200 metres (13,800 ft) in habitats with rock crevices allowing it to escape from predators. Along with other hyrax species and the sirenians, this species is the most closely related to the elephant.
