HMS Sheffield - a photo on Flickriver

HMS Sheffield

            On this day in 1982, Type 42 Destroyer HMS Sheffield was hit and disabled by Argentine Exocet missiles during the Falklands War. Of the 281 crew members, 20 died and another 26 were injured; only one of the dead was recovered. She sank six days later & is now designated and protected as a war grave.
