Taiyuan Shanxi China 28th October 1983

            We took the 20.25 train from Taiyuan to Xian hauled by China Railways RM 4-6-2 1095. This was the sight in Taiyuan station just prior to departure and despite the group being a load of enthusiasts no-one else took the opportunity to grab a shot. After all it's not every day you get to take a 400+ mile overnight sleeper pulled by a pacific.

According to my notes, during the night there were 3 loco changes and we were also pulled by RMs 1078, 1130 and 1252 arriving at Xian at 10.15am. So really I should say: it's not every day you get to take a 400+ mile overnight sleeper pulled by a 4 pacifics!!
