Great Central Railway Loughborough 12th May 2024

Inside Loughborough shed two of 5305 Locomotive Association's engines are under overhaul.

On the right, now clear of asbestos and its cocoon the bottom end of King Arthur 4-6-0 30777 Sir Lamiel is finally being reassembled again. It's boiler is well advanced out in the yard. It is hoped to complete Lamiel in 2025 its centenary year.

On the left Stanier Black 5 4-6-0 45305 is also stripped down with its boiler out the back. Extensive firebox repairs are needed but the extent has been determined and plans are in hand to start on this.
