Taken from Bernard Road looking northwest.

The Royal Victoria Hotel opened by the MS&LR in 1861 is on the far left with Victoria station alongside. The abandoned bridge in the foreground once carried the Nunnery Colliery branch over the Midland main line to enter the former Blast Lane Goods yard on the left. The 2 railway carriages and van are on the approach lines to Park Goods yard.
