Our short & sweet Penang travel+photography trip

It was a short travel photography trip we had been planning for a long time but did not happen due our busy work schedules, but finally it did last weekend! Four of us, each one bringing minimum two cameras at least. All of us shoot films, and these are the stuff we brought with us.

It was a short yet wonderful trip. So much to eat, and so much to shoot. Jamming every street and alley spotting for interesting subjects and local people who are willing to smile for photos. From old kopitiams (coffeeshops) to Chinese and Indian barber shops, old fashioned perm parlour, abandoned cinema, street cobler, trickshaw man, old Japanese speaking lady, to even a passionate Volkwagen Beettle cars collector! And so many more! The photowalk experience in Penang is simply fun and unforgetable. The local people are friendly and almost too easy to be photographed without much persuasion that I usually have to use in KL. There was a Chinese speaking Indian young chap who spotted us shooting on the street stopped by to asked us about camera and later on followed us a bit for a shoot then showed us around a bit and led us to a prominent pet shop in the city before going off for work.

Not to forget the hostel we were staying which had very interesting interior had been made into our photo studio. I remember on Sunday morning when we woke up while waiting for all of us to wash up, one of my friends started to set up his tripod and medium format camera, and then push open the folding door of his room and turn it into a theater studio. Eventually, the rest of us too starter setting up our equipment and shooting away. Even the two German girls staying right opposite the room were made our 'studio' models! We had so much fun! So much so that we would not bother to have breakfast but keep satisfying ourselves with what we were doing :P
