View on the stone quarry - a photo on Flickriver

WIP stone quarry – unloading platform

Some months ago I got the idea to add an industrial branch line to the freight yard. First I thought to add an old factory build form dark red plates etc. After 2 weeks of building it (it was already for 75% completed) I decided not to continue due to the colour scheme which doesn’t fit in the whole layout. Very shortly afterwards I saw a picture of an English model railroad depicting a small stone quarry and I decide that it had to be a stone quarry.

The quarry itself is some kilometres away from the station (maybe I will build this in the future), so this is only the unloading platform were the stones are loaded into the train wagons. The quarry and the unloading platform are connected with an industrial narrow gauge railway, which add a lot of extra details and possibilities to the layout.
The narrow gauge track is on the left side of the building and 14 bricks above the train track. So I have to add a hill or something like that to get a decent landscape. This will be something for the coming months.
