To get some idea of this scene, you have to understand that the gymnasts at the collegiate level have spent their entire lives to this point in gymnastics. They most likely went to a gymnastics school where academics were shoehorned around six hours of gymnastics a day with the hope of someday making it to the Olympics, but that didn't happen. Even in college they have lived and breathed gymnastics, and she is gazing out at a scene that is both very familiar and fleeting. Soon she will leave the gymnastics world completely to something entirely different, a woman on the cusp of a new life, imaging a new dream to replace the old. Or perhaps she was thinking of nothing at all. I like to simply focus on the image, and let each viewer experience it in their own way.

Oh how I miss this lens! The downside of switching to Fuji completely is the loss of my favorite lens of all time, the Nikon 85mm f4.1. Its hard to believe the sharpness of it wide open, and that bokeh is like a watercolor painting, with the typical geometric lens element shapes completely missing, which is incredibly rare. Miles Davis is quoted as saying "You know why I quit playing ballads? Cause I love playing ballads." Its the same way with me and this lens. I relied on it so much it was holding me back from developing as a photographer, the product of a certain time and a certain state of mind that is just gone. But that doesn't mean I don't miss it.
