             Black Crake

This very distinctive and unmistakable little guy is out on a morning stroll among the water-lilies.

This sub-adult specimen stands only about 200mm (8 inches) high. His weight is distributed evenly through his long and widely spread toes, allowing him to easily negotiate a safe passage across the floating lily leaves without getting more than his ankles wet.
