Hands project - Alyssa Kubitz - a photo on Flickriver

            I was drawn to markers and crayons as soon as I could hold them. I remember being in preschool: feeling the smooth crayon become a blur of colors across a sheet of paper to create images from my mind. I knew that it was something special.

Through the years, it's become important for me to feel the materials I work with: to allow their unique properties to influence the images I create. I love the emotional fluidity of acrylic; the blurred staining of markers; the sharp precision of graphite. I feel a sense of gratification when I look down at my hands and they're dotted and marked with various palettes.  

As an adult, I strive to bring beauty, light and color to world through my work. As a result, I hope others have a chance to see their own radiance, light, and beauty reflected back to them.
