Colorful archer

            The ancient Greeks and Romans embellished their sculptures with colorful painting, gilding, silvering, and inlay - the pure white images that were the inspiration for Neoclassicism were never intended. This exhibition at the Palace of the Legion of Honor features reproductions using well-researched patterns and colors as well as some original pieces with remnants of the original painted surfaces.
